Sustained NAHRO advocacy continues to pay dividends as HUD yesterday released a notice (PIH 2010-24) providing PHAs with guidance on seeking FY 2009 and FY 2010 emergency capital needs funding for measures intended to address safety and security emergencies. According to the new notice, "safety and security emergencies include sudden increases in threat levels posed to the health and safety of PHA residents due to violent crimes or property related crimes at PHA sites."
The notice also provides new information on seeking funding to address needs resulting from unforeseen and unpreventable emergencies that are unrelated to issues of safety and security.
